We did a migration from sql 2008 to sql 2014 and we noticed that ows slowed down the site (It was impossible to publish ows work....timeout issues).

After analysis we saw that OWS tables have the data type ntext.
Changing all data type form ntext to nvarchar (MAX), the problem is solved.

Tables involved:

- OpenWebStudio_Draft

- OpenWebStudio_Log

- OpenWebStudio_Package

- OpenWebStudio_PackageItem

- OpenWebStudio_Settings

I hope it is a help to someone.
Someone has encountered the same problem?

thanks
Matteo

Thank you for sharing - very astute observation on the OWS tables.

I wonder if the use of ntext is negatively impacting the performance of OWS on previous installations of SQL, such as 2008 and 2012. The version for ntext's retirement has yet to be announced, but is expected in "future versions".
